旦角，指戏曲中的女性形象。各个剧种有所不同，但比较一致的大概分为如下几种：
Dan, refers to the female role in Chinese opera. The roles of Dan vary in different types of opera, but they are roughly divided into the following:
老旦，扮演年老的女性，重在唱腔，为表示老年女性苍老的嗓音，唱腔为女中音，化妆淡。
Laodan,the role of an elderly women, focuses on singing, and in order to present the hoarse voice of an aged women, she sings in milder tones, usually with a light make-up.
小旦，指年轻女性，可分为正旦、花旦、花衫旦、武旦等。
Xiaodan, referring to young women,can be further categorized into Zhengdan, Huadan, Huashandan, Wudan, and others
正旦，又称青衣，多指年轻文雅的女性，重在唱腔，时常运用假声。其中也有苦旦，指命运悲惨的女性角色。或闺门旦，指公主、千金小姐一类角色。
Zhengdan, also known as Qingyi, refers to young and elegant women, and sings with a pure and high-pitched quality, often in falsetto. Among them, there are also Kudan, referring to the female characters with tragic fates and Guimendan, referring to the role of princesses or wealthy young ladies.
花旦，扮演身份比较低下的年轻女子，重在念白和做功，一般扮演丫鬟或小家碧玉的角色。
Huadan, the role of a young woman with a low status, focuses on reciting and performing skills, and generally depicts the character of a maid or a young lady.
花衫旦，介于正旦、花旦的旦角类型，性格比正旦活泼，比花旦庄重。
Huashandan is between the roles of Zhengdan and Huadan, more lively than the former but more dignified and serious than the latter.
武旦，重武术，一般扮演武艺高强的女性角色。其中也有专门负责表演戏剧中的“女军官”之类人物，为刀马旦。
Wudan, usually emphasising martial arts, refers to the role of a female with a high standard of acrobatics. Among them, there are also roles like the‘female military officers’,known as Daomadan,a female warrior role.
